One Dead After Truck Crashes into Detached Trailer on I-20
Covington, GA (July 6, 2020) – A man from Sumter, South Carolina died Saturday morning when a trailer allegedly came loose from another vehicle and collided with his truck in Newton County.
The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-20 near Georgia 142.
According to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office, 71-year-old William Evans of Rutledge was allegedly driving his 2018 Ford F-350 pickup truck west on I-20 while hauling a 16-foot trailer.
